Tesla Model 3 wins Best Large Electric Car award at the Parkers New Car Awards 2021

The Tesla Model 3 has won the Best Small Electric Car award at the Parkers New Car Awards 2021. Parkers are a key resource for buying advice for cars and vehicles in the UK. This was their fourth annual Parkers awards and the Tesla Model 3 edged out the Kia e-Niro and Polestar 2 to take the top spot.

It’s no surprise to see the globally popular Tesla Model 3 in the winning position once again having won Parkers’ Car of The Year in 2020 in the Best Large Electric Car category. This charismatic electric car has become a top-selling car in the UK because it combines performance, range and practicality.

Parkers, said: “It really delivers where it counts, though, thanks to a long driving range, excellent performance and the advantage of Tesla’s unmatched Supercharger network. Top it off with decent leasing deals that can get you in one from around £400 per month, and you can see why it’s won for a second year running.”

The Kia e-Niro sports utility vehicle (SUV), which received the first runner up award in the category, is a family-friendly electric car offering ample room, along with good all-round performance. The range is also impressive for a car of this size that costs only £29,595 after Plug-In Car Grant.

Parkers, said: “The Kia e-Niro offers a brilliant combination of range, practicality and usability, and proves that an electric car for families needn’t cost an arm and a leg in cash terms. For many, the e-Niro should be every car they need, quashing those age-old concerns about range anxiety in one fell swoop. Kia and sister company Hyundai are at the cutting edge of battery vehicle technology, which is why the e-Niro delivers an easy 275 miles and more in real-world driving, beating some much more expensive electric vehicles in the process.”

The second runner up in the large electric car category was the Polestar 2. Polestar is a relatively new brand but this Swedish electric car start-up has the might of Volvo behind it, and in partnership with Chinese parent company Geely, has access to the latest battery vehicle technology.

Parkers said: “The 2 is Polestar’s first all-electric car, and it’s very impressive, with an excellent infotainment system, a comfortable and well-built vegan-friendly interior, and superb road manners and performance. For a car straight out of the blocks by a new carmaker, it’s a brilliant effort.”
