Lucid Air Dream Edition electric car announced

North America’s Lucid Motors officially introduced their Lucid Air Dream Edition sedan that will be launched in the second quarter of 2021. This will definitely be a car that gives Elon Musk’s Tesla range a run for its money, quite literally.

This new launch from Lucid Air will be a limited edition model and is designed to showcase Lucid’s vision for state-of-the-art electric cars, which combine extended range and fast charging, with unique design details. Plus, it sets the stage for electric cars of the future and what we can expect from modern motoring that doesn’t involve a combustion engine.

This new electric sedan will be a game changer on many levels, if you have a spare $169,000 (£131,780), thanks to its claimed world beating range of 517 miles and world’s fastest charge that will deliver up to 300 miles from a 20-minute fast charge.

The overall performance is equally impressive with the Dream Edition delivering 1080 brake horse power with dual motors that drive all four wheels. It will drive from 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds and can travel the quarter mile as quick as 9.9 seconds. On the flipside it remains a practical car offering 739 litres of luggage space.

It will be available in three exterior colours: Stellar White, Infinite Black and even Eureka Gold — a colour exclusive to the Dream Edition. All exteriors are trimmed with bright platinum theme accents. The Dream Edition will also feature a glass canopy roof allowing for plenty of natural light.

The interior uses soft and muted colours said to be inspired by daybreak on Santa Monica beach and will be exclusive to the Dream Edition. These are combined with full-grain Nappa leather in graphite grey and ceramic with sophisticated Alcantara inserts, complemented by bright platinum metal trim and silvered eucalyptus wood.

This will all be complimented by Lucid’s exclusive DreamDrive driver assistance system and 21-speaker Immersive Audio System. The Lucid Air Dream Edition is an impressive vehicle that offers a glimpse into the future of driving electric cars.

Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Motors, said: “Lucid Motors is driven to make the electric car better, and by doing so, help move the entire industry forward towards accelerated adoption of sustainable mobility. The goal of this relentless approach to developing the world’s most advanced electric vehicle is to benefit all mankind with sustainable, zero emission transportation, and to also attract new customers to the world of EVs.
