Monta gains its first enterprise customer in Canada as EV charging demand in the country continues to grow
  • Denmark-founded EV charging software company, Monta, is expanding further in North America, with the start of its market entry to Canada.
  • Monta has been chosen by Canadian grocery retailer Sobeys, who will use Monta’s backend platform to help power its nationwide workplace charging rollout.
  • The market entry comes as Canadian appetite for electric vehicles grows rapidly.

Monta launches in Canada

Monta’s backend EV charging software is compatible with over 900 EV charger models from over 250 brands, and its entry into the Canadian market comes at a pivotal time. There are now over 13,000 public charging stations across the country, while the government has allocated over $1.2 billion towards deploying further EV chargers.

With Canada looking towards EVs taking up an increasingly higher proportion of total vehicle sales, demand for EV charging will also grow, which is where Monta hopes its charging management software will come into play.

Casper Rasmussen, CEO and co-founder of Monta, commented:

“Canada’s charging market is growing fast, and operators need software they can trust to grow with them. Having Sobeys as a flagship enterprise customer to launch in Canada is a milestone for us. We’ve spent five years building an open, reliable platform in Europe and the US, and we’re ready to bring that same foundation to Canadian operators.

Natashia Dunham, National Director of Real Estate at Sobeys, added:

“At Sobeys, we’re committed to making sustainable choices easier for our employees and communities. Partnering with Monta gives us a reliable, scalable platform to roll out EV charging across our national network.”
