    GeniePoint announces partnership with Zap-Pay

    GeniePoint, a National electric vehicle (EV) charging network in the UK, has partnered with Zap-Pay, the easy way to pay for electric vehicle charging across networks from within Zap-Map, the UK’s leading electric car mapping service.

    Zap-Map and EQUANS, the company that owns the GeniePoint network, signed an agreement last year to include GeniePoint in the Zap-Pay partner network.

    As of last week, GeniePoint, with its range of rapid and destination chargers at locations such as Morrisons and Premier Inn, is now f up and running as an established Zap-Pay partner. The network is the fourth to come online with Zap-Pay along with Osprey, ESB Energy and char.gy.

    The integration means that a total of more than 1,700 charging devices across the UK are now Zap-Pay enabled. As well as being able to search for charge points, plan longer journeys and share updates with other electric vehicle drivers, Zap-Map users can now pay quickly and easily for charging on all four networks in the UK.

    GeniePoint is currently the third-largest rapid charging network in the UK, excluding the Tesla network. It consists of around 800 charge points. This includes more than 500 rapid chargers in England, Scotland and Wales, and stretches from Dundee to Falmouth.

    The network has chargers at over 200 sites of the supermarket chain Morrisons and last year was appointed Whitbread’s electric vehicle charging partner to install chargers across their Premier Inn estate.

    Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app, was launched with a mission to include all the key charge point networks across the UK.

    As a single-app payment system that uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, Zap-Pay avoids the issue of using different payment methods across all the various networks.

    The Zap-Pay service also includes a 24/7 multilingual help desk for all payment-related issues, which is provided by EVA Global – an international, leading managed services provider, specialising in the electric mobility industry.

    With GeniePoint’s nationwide charging network now online, this announcement marks an important step towards simple, trouble-free charging for electric vehicle drivers across the UK.
