Electric car producer BYD appoints new European dealer partners

Chinese electric car producer Build Your Dreams (BYD), the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, has appointed two additional dealer partners to support the entry of its passenger cars into Europe. Motor Distributors Ltd (MDL) becomes a National Dealer Partner for the Republic of Ireland and RSA, an existing dealer partner for BYD in Norway, extends its coverage to Finland and Iceland.

The announcement was made following a formal signing ceremony at BYD global headquarters. This was orchestrated at the same time as BYD’s e-Journey Pioneer Dealer Tour, a special event hosted by BYD to welcome the first wave of European dealers to its global headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

While being a global brand, the formation of localised strategic partnerships and co-operations are fundamental to BYD in establishing high levels of customer service to support its passenger car business in Europe. The addition of two more dealer co-operations in Europe underlines this commitment from BYD.

BYD, a global innovator of pioneering electric car battery technology and creator of some of the world’s most technologically advanced electric vehicles, introduces an inspiring range of cars designed with the European consumer in mind. The European launch range comprises three models for left-hand drive markets.

These include the BYD ATTO 3 C-Segment SUV (see below), the BYD TANG SUV (see above), and the premium BYD HAN executive saloon. All combine modern styling with exceptional safety, intelligence and efficiency. With high levels of standard equipment, they also all benefit from the revolutionary Blade Battery which has been rigorously tested, providing outstanding levels of safety and durability.

To reinforce BYD’s safety claims, the ATTO 3 electric SUV was awarded a five-star safety rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), which is Europe’s leading independent safety assessment programme.

Globally, BYD has committed to more than 3.5 million new energy passenger cars, reinforcing the brand’s credentials as it enters new markets in Europe. BYD’s footprint now covers six continents, more than 70 countries and over 400 cities, saving the equivalent of 29 million tonnes in carbon emissions as of February 2023.

Michael Shu, General Manager and Managing Director, BYD Europe and International Cooperation Division, said: “We are delighted to welcome European dealer partners to our Global Headquarters. We truly value relationships with local partners.

“While BYD is renowned for pioneering innovation, we are focused on delivering product satisfaction and a high all round customer experience which we achieve through collaboration with local partners.

“As such, it gives us real pleasure to partner with MDL in the Republic of Ireland and RSA in Finland and Iceland, as we introduce an appealing range of technologically advanced eco-friendly passenger cars to local consumers in new markets.”

BYD is starting to make some big moves in the European market with its affordable electric vehicles. In October 2022, BYD also announced a partnership with car rental company SIXT for the European market. This marks the beginning of a long-term partnership galvanising a shared vision to help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.

The collaboration started with an initial order from SIXT for several thousand all-electric BYD cars which were delivered in the latter part of last year. It is anticipated that this preliminary order from SIXT will expand to a further additional 100,000 BYD electric vehicles over the next six years.
