Around the world in 80 charges: First leg of eActros 600 world trip completed

The eActros 600's circumnavigation of the globe is off to a successful start

A fully-electric HGV, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, is currently on a journey across the world to prove the long-distance capabilities of Mercedes’ flagship electric truck, by YouTuber Tobias Wagner (Elektrotrucker). The goal is to complete the 45,000 kilometre trip in no more than 80 charging stops, helped along by the eActros 600’s official fully-loaded battery range of 500 kilometres.

Global eHGV trip gets off to a smooth start

From a trip that started in Hanover, Germany back in September, Tobias had already reached Turkey by mid-October, with 3,500 kilometres travelled with just three charging stops – in Austria, Serbia, and Turkey. Now, Tobias is on his way through Georgia, with around 40,000 kilometres of the immense journey still yet to run. From here, the truck will travel through Central Asia and on to China.

The eActros 600 electric HGV is already proving itself in real commercial operations, with operators already operating the truck on logistics routes well over 400 kilometres, thanks to the model’s industry-leading range. Officially, the eActros 600 is rated for 500 kilometres with a fully-loaded trailer, but with the short flatbed configuration of the eActros 600 travelling around the world, it’s likely to significantly exceed this range figure between trips to the charger.

Tobias Wagner, also known as Elektrotrucker, commented:

“The first stage through Europe has gone very well. Thanks to the long range of my converted eActros 600 motorhome, only three charging stops were necessary, and all of them went smoothly. Now the particularly exciting part of the journey begins for me. As I travel through Central Asia and onward to China, I’ll be operating under completely new conditions.”
