Roadchef has signed an agreement with bp pulse covering EV charging, fuels and convenience retail. The deal will see bp pulse ultra-fast chargers installed at more than 30 of Roadchef’s motorway service areas from 2027.
More rapid EV charging to come to UK motorway network in new partnership
The move will support Roadchef’s target of delivering 1,000 EV charging bays by 2030, and the CPO joins what is already a multi-operator charging setup across the Roadchef estate. GRIDSERVE has been Roadchef’s main charging partner for a while, with the pair’s first Electric Super Hubs opening at Watford Gap North and South on the M1 back in 2023. Shell Recharge also has a presence at Roadchef locations – Chester services gained six new Shell Recharge ultra-rapid bays offering up to 300kW last year, sitting alongside GRIDSERVE’s 350kW chargers at the same site.
How the rollout of bp pulse chargers will fit around these existing partnerships is yet to be detailed, but it’s clear that with Roadchef’s goal of 1,000 charging bays that there is room for multiple operators to fill that gap. With the ZEV mandate helping to add more electric cars onto UK roads every year, motorway service areas remain one of the most important links in the public charging network. Adding bp pulse to the mix will give Roadchef extra delivery capacity as it continues to expand its public charging footprint.

Together, these changes will help us serve more drivers and give the business the scale and capability to meet the growing demand for EV charging across the UK.”
