Amazon’s German arm has received delivery of its first 27 fully-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 units, as part of a 50-plus order of the model which will perform fully-electrified logistics operations across the country.
Amazon’s electric Mercedes truck order continues in Germany
The delivery marks the latest milestone in Amazon’s move to decarbonise its European transport network, with Mercedes-Benz Trucks confirming all 50-plus vehicles will be on in operation by the end of the year.
The trucks being added to the fleet make up part of what is Amazon’s largest ever order of electric trucks, a Europe-wide order for more than 200 eActros 600 units signed in early 2025. The majority of these 200 trucks are being deployed in the UK, where deliveries began in late 2025 and a large number of units are already in operation.
To support the new trucks, Amazon is installing hundreds of heavy goods vehicle chargers at its European sites, ensuring minimum downtime of its fleet by allowing a 10% to 80% charge to take place in around 70 minutes.
Amazon is deploying the eActros 600 on a crucial stage of the delivery process, the middle mile, which moves goods between fulfilment centres and urban areas. It’s already electrifying the last-mile stage too, using electric vans and even ecargo bikes across much of Europe. The fact that a company with time-critical operations such as Amazon is willing to rely on electric trucks for this work says something about how far electric truck technology has come. The eActros 600 backs that up, with a range of up to 500 kilometres with a trailer attached.
