Electric transport company, Einride, is set to triple the size of its electric truck fleet in the US, with plans to roll out a significant 500 units of the Tesla Semi over the next two years.
Tesla secures one of its largest Semi orders yet
Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli has confirmed that 75 of these Tesla Semis will arrive before the end of the year, with the remaining 425 joining the fleet throughout 2027. The electric trucks will join Einride’s Saga AI platform, travelling on freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia. Amazon is the main customer for this new Tesla Semi fleet, along with other Einride customers within North America.
This agreement marks the largest Tesla Semi order to date, beating the previous record of 370 units, ordered by California’s WattEV back in May. It also arrives only months after Tesla started full-scale production of the Semi in Nevada, marking another vote of confidence for the long-delayed electric semi truck.
Einride notes that the deployment is US-focused for now, but with Tesla confirming that the Semi will indeed make its way to Europe, which could give Einride the opportunity to deploy the trucks in this market too.
