BMW Group has reached a key milestone in its electrification journey, this month delivering its two millionth fully-electric vehicle across its BMW and MINI brands. Including plug-in hybrids, the total number of ‘electrified’ vehicles it has delivered rises to 3.5 million.
BMW Group reaches its two millionth BEV delivery
The milestone comes after BMW launched its first fully-electric production car, the i3, back in 2013. Since then, the number of models from BMW and MINI available in fully-electric form has increased significantly. The growth of EV registrations for the automaker has been particularly strong within Europe, where in the first half of 2026, around 28% of total car sales were for fully-electric models.
Growth has been further bolstered by the launch of the new BMW iX3, one of the longest-range electric cars on sale thanks to its new Neue Klasse architecture. Since the model’s launch, one in three BMW Group BEVs ordered within Europe has been an iX3.
Production has also stepped up on the second model within the Neue Klasse range, which has the potential to be a big seller just like the iX3. BMW’s Munich factory, which is set to go EV-only from 2027, began series production of the new BMW i3 saloon this month, and the car has already seen strong demand on preorder lists.
Jochen Goller, Member of the BMW Board of Management, commented:
“Selling two million BEVs underlines how BMW and MINI models are winning over customers worldwide. In Europe, the positive development has continued since the market launch of the BMW iX3, and we will soon be reaching the milestone of 100,000 new orders. This shows the tremendous importance of the Neue Klasse for the ongoing ramp-up of electromobility at the BMW Group.
The second Neue Klasse model, the BMW i3, is already seeing strong demand since orders opened ahead of its market launch.”
