162-year-old British department store, John Lewis, is now set to sell EV chargers through its site, becoming further evidence that EVs are becoming mainstream in the UK.
John Lewis and Andersen EV partner for home charger sales and installations
John Lewis has long been seen as a premium retailer, so it’s fitting that its first step into EV charger sales comes with Andersen EV. The British charger manufacturer is well known for its premium, design-led home chargers, offered in finishes such as wood. It already counts premium car brands such as Porsche and JLR among its automotive partners.
Through the partnership, John Lewis customers will be able to buy the A2, A3, and Quartz models directly through the its website, with installation and customer support from Andersen included in the price. Further increasing accessibility, the chargers are also eligible for purchase through the retailer’s credit line, allowing for monthly payment options.
The John Lewis partnership is a prime example of how electric cars and their related accessories have now become a mainstream product in the UK, with home chargers now sitting alongside kitchen appliances and home technology on the John Lewis website. It also comes at a time of strong EV adoption for the UK, with new electric car registrations recently rising 49% year-on-year.
John Lewis joins a growing number of established UK retailers now directly selling home EV chargers, with businesses such as Currys, Halfords, and Screwfix also recently beginning to directly sell home EV chargers.
David Martell, Chief Executive of Andersen EV, commented:
“John Lewis & Partners is a trusted, quality retailer focused on customer service, sharing key principles that Andersen holds in the highest regard. As a fellow British company, manufacturing in the UK, we are delighted to be offering our range of products and premium service through this new and exciting partnership.”
