Every 9th September, the emobility sector celebrates a day that brings together a global audience to further advance the transition to electric vehicles. World EV Day returns for its seventh edition in 2026, and it remains a useful asset in an industry of guarded brands and gated content. World EV Day is an open source campaign, gifted to the sector by the World EV Forum for anyone to pick up, build on, and make their own. Any individual, business, or government can get involved with the campaign – no matter how big or small.
World EV Day is one of four key communication pillars that together make up the World EV Forum, sitting alongside ElectricDrives, Women Leading EV., and the EV SUMMIT.
For 2026, the campaign sharpens its focus on the argument that increasingly wins the switch: money. Under the theme ‘Switching Electric: driving down the cost of motoring’, this year’s World EV Day will put lower running costs at the heart of the global conversation. That topic is more relevant than ever, amid a volatile oil market that has caused fuel prices in some countries to rise to multi-year highs – with interest surrounding EVs subsequently rising.
Whilst World EV Day is free to celebrate, brands can go further and put themselves at the centre of the campaign by becoming an official partner. Partnership brings content assets, consultancy on activations, and marketing support across not just the World EV Day channels but ElectricDrives’ channels too.
