The Range Rover goes electric
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)’s investor day takes place on 17th June 2026, when we are likely to hear more details about the Range Rover Electric, which when launched, will become the first official electric Land Rover ever. It’s also the second battery electric car ever launched by JLR, following the Jaguar I-Pace which was discontinued back in 2024.
When will the Range Rover Electric be available?
JLR already confirmed in a previous earnings call that the Range Rover Electric will launch in the second half of 2026, with more details set to come later this month on its 2026 Investor Day.
What we can expect from the car itself
When it comes to the design of the Range Rover Electric, we’ve already seen prototype models of this upcoming EV on the road, and apart from a few aerodynamic tweaks to maximise range, the design looks nearly indistinguishable from the petrol and diesel-powered Range Rovers currently on sale.
Prototype models already tested by the motoring press point to a 118kWh NMC battery with around 300 miles of range, and a dual-motor setup producing 542 horsepower. That’s a meaningful step up from the most powerful petrol PHEV in the current lineup, which tops out at 460 horsepower. Final production numbers may vary, but the direction of high power is clear.
Pricing is unconfirmed and we expect to see more details on that soon, but estimates are that the Range Rover Electric will start at around £130,000 GBP, commanding a slight premium over the base petrol and diesel models.
The Range Rover Electric will be produced in the UK, at JLR’s Solihull facility. This location is also set to produce the Jaguar Type 01 EV, once that goes on sale later this year.
