Pod and EDF launch UK’s cheapest overnight charging tariff

New EDF EV tariffs start at just 6.49p per kWh for overnight charging
  • EV charging specialists Pod and EDF Energy have partnered to create what is now the UK’s cheapest energy tariff for overnight EV charging.
  • Called Pod Power by EDF, this new tariff offers an overnight charging price of just 6.49p per kWh.
  • EV-specific energy tariffs such as these make the prospect of EV ownership look even more attractive, in light of petrol and diesel prices rising to their highest levels in over three years.

Overnight charging for 6.49p per kWh with new Pod x EDF partnership

This new EV tariff is designed specifically for Pod customers, giving an off-peak charging rate of only 6.49p per kWh between the hours of 11pm and 6am. For EDF customers without a Pod charger, EDF has also updated its ‘GoElectric’ tariff, bringing down its off-peak price to a similarly low 6.99p per kWh.

With this new low price, both tariffs now offer the lowest overnight charging price in the UK – beating Octopus Energy’s 8p per kWh offer.

By charging off-peak with the Pod Power tariff, typical Pod customers can save over £450 per year compared to charging on a Standard Variable Tariff aligned with the Ofgem price cap.

Melanie Lane, CEO at Pod, commented:

“Pod Power by EDF is designed to give drivers total confidence when they go electric, offering them a complete end-to-end charging solution. Our customers tell us they want clarity and simplicity in their energy choices, and this unique tariff delivers both. With 7 hours of low-cost electricity every night and clear, predictable pricing, we’re making it easier and more affordable for drivers to charge at home.”

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director for Customers at EDF, added:

“We are delighted to partner with Pod on this exclusive EV tariff. Pod Power by EDF combines competitive overnight pricing with EDF’s zero-carbon electricity, giving customers a simple, great-value way to power both their home and their car. It’s a tariff built around the needs of EV drivers, delivered by two trusted brands.”
