- The Jaguar EV prototype, originally revealed in concept form back in late 2024, is now undergoing winter testing in the arctic circle ahead of its the four-door grand tourer’s full reveal later this year.
- This Jaguar is being subject to extreme weather conditions, with temperatures as low as -40 degrees celcius helping to prove the Jag’s capabilities.
- The news once again confirms that the brand remains committed to its all-electric future, after previous rumours that the brand would introduce a combustion engine option for the new car.
New Jaguar EV gets closer to production reveal
Jaguar has shared new images of its fully-electric GT concept car undergoing testing in Sweden’s arctic circle, marking a key stage of the validation programme before the finished vehicle is revealed to the public later this year.

The prototype pictured is one of 150 examples which are undergoing validation across the world – from sub-zero climates, as pictured here, to scorching temperatures in deserts, and virtual environments within laboratories. These tests will help to ensure that the car’s electric powertrain and battery can perform optimally, no matter which country or environment it’s sold in.
The slippery frozen lakes of Sweden where this particular Jaguar EV prototype is being tested are not only gauging the cars durability, but also its driving performance, with Jaguar wanting this new car to mirror the driving feel of previous models, combining comfort and swift responses. With over 1,000PS on tap, this electric grand tourer will also be the most powerful production Jaguar ever created. It also marks the start of Jaguar’s electric-only journey, after scrapping all of its ICE models back in 2025.
Matt Becker, Vehicle Engineering Director at JLR, commented:
“Jaguar has always been about driving pleasure and our new electric four‑door GT will be no different. It marks a step‑change in our technical ambitions. Innovative in‑house electric propulsion technologies combine with the car’s unique proportions and low centre of gravity for a luxurious grand tourer that drives like nothing else. Like a true Jaguar, it can be comfortable when you wish, is engaging to drive and, with more than 1,000PS, always has power in reserve.”
Rawdon Glover, Managing Director at Jaguar, added:
“Our aim from the outset has been to deliver a true Jaguar driving experience and we have crafted a hugely desirable car that will be as captivating to drive as to look at.”
