Duracell E-Charge launches its second UK EV charging site

Duracell E-Charge, a new public charging network in the UK, has opened its second site, in Newcastle upon Tyne.
  • New entrant to the UK’s public EV charging market, Duracell E-Charge, has now launched its second site, located in Swalwell, Newcastle upon Tyne.
  • Much like the first site, the charge points at this location utilise the well-known Duracell battery colour scheme, making them a familiar and trustable sight for a growing EV audience.
  • The site is the second of many to come, with Duracell E-Charge planning further expansion in the coming months and years.

Duracell E-Charge expands its presence in the UK

The new EV charging site, located at Sands Road Car Park in Newcastle upon Tyne, is a key location for EV traffic, being located both close to the major A1 road and the Metrocentre shopping centre. 12 charging bays are available at this location, powered by 6 ultra-rapid EV chargers – with each capable of delivering charging speeds of up to 300kW, enough to give some EVs a significant charge up in under 30 minutes.

Previously, ultra-rapid EV charging locations offering these types of speeds were the reserve of less urban locations, such as motorway services, but ultra-urban and ultra-rapid pieces of infrastructure such as this new site are becoming common – further reducing charging anxiety.

This is the second public charging site to be opened by Duracell E-Charge, with the first location opening in Cheltenham late last year. The firm may be a new entrant to the UK’s competitive public charging market, but the name brings an air of familiarity to EV drivers. That familiarity could be just what’s needed to differentiate it from the competition, with this branding allowing its locations to be highly recognisable.

According to Duracell E-Charge’s website, a third location is also expected to go live before the end of January at St Davids Retail Park, in Chester. Expect more locations to go live throughout 2026.
