Greater Manchester clean taxi transition
LEVC, already part of the London black cab landscape, has announced a major commitment to support the Greater Manchester clean taxi transition, backing the region’s new £8m Hackney Support Fund with up to £2 million in additional driver support. The move strengthens the city-region’s plan to help taxi drivers switch from older diesel cabs to cleaner, zero-emission capable LEVC TX electric taxis.
The government-backed Hackney Support Fund will provide grants to help drivers upgrade to modern, low-emission taxis. LEVC’s own contribution, worth up to £2m, adds further momentum by offering extended warranties on new and used TX models, plus a scrappage allowance for drivers upgrading to a used TX. Together, these packages are intended to reduce running costs, speed up the transition to cleaner vehicles, and support the long-term sustainability of the taxi trade.

TX: A proven electric taxi transforming UK clean air goals
Built in Ansty, Coventry, the LEVC TX electric taxi has become a reference point for modern, low-emission urban transport. Its innovative eCity powertrain delivers up to 78 miles of pure electric range and a combined range of up to 333 miles, giving drivers the flexibility they need for long shifts and mixed urban–suburban routes.
Since launch, TX has prevented more than 360 million kilograms of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere and helped cut NOx emissions from London’s taxi fleet by 59%: a key milestone in the capital meeting legal air quality targets.
Designed for everyone: sector-leading accessibility with electric taxi upgrade UK
The TX remains the only purpose-built, fully accessible, zero-emission capable electric taxi available today. Features include: seating for up to six passengers; a forward-facing wheelchair space; an integrated wheelchair ramp; hearing induction loo; braille switches; high-visibility grab handles. This ensures TX remains a futureproof solution for operators, passengers and local authorities aiming to improve inclusive mobility.
