- bp pulse has opened the United States’ largest EV charging hub, with the inauguration of a 48-bay, ultra-rapid EV charging hub located just minutes from Los Angeles’ LAX airport.
- The 48 charging bays contain a mix of 150kW and 400kW chargers, with the latter helping to take full advantage of the fastest charging electric cars.
- The hub’s opening comes as bp pulse looks to expand EV charging infrastructure further right across the United States.
Introducing the largest US EV charging hub
The new hub is the largest of its kind to open in the US, and will support EV drivers around Los Angeles, as well as ride-hail drivers, rental car customers, and passengers travelling to and from LAX airport – the fifth busiest airport in the United States. Alongside the 48 charging bays, on-site facilities also include a driver’s lounge, vending machines, and free Wi-Fi. The hub has been partially funded through the California Energy Commission (CEC), which granted $2 million towards the hub’s construction.
bp pulse has previously stated aims to build more EV charging hubs strategically close to airports, and this new hub works towards that goal. Additional bp pulse charging hubs located in such areas are in the pipeline.
Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas, commented:
“Our new hub near LAX is another example of how we’re bringing fast, reliable charging to our customers when and where they need it, alongside convenient amenities. We’re committed to expanding our charging network to more metro and airport locations like this one to support EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets in a simple, reliable, and cost-effective way.”
Daria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz, added:
“With EVs often the preferred choice for our rideshare drivers, charging infrastructure like the new bp pulse hub near LAX is essential to supporting their daily operations, said Doria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz. This prime location near the airport combined with ultrafast charging capabilities will help drivers stay powered up and on the road, supporting one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs.”
