- The electric-only relaunch of the Cadillac brand into the European market continues, as its new fully-electric SUV, the VISTIQ, has been confirmed to arrive in Europe.
- The VISTIQ will become the second Cadillac-branded EV to arrive in Europe, following the LYRIQ – with another electric SUV, the OPTIQ, also on the horizon for Europe.
- With previous attempts by Cadillac to conquer the European car market failing, could these new models succeed where their expensive to run and gas-guzzling predecessors failed?
Cadillac bolsters its European EV push
The VISTIQ will be priced as a high-end electric car. In Germany, for instance, it’ll be priced starting from €99,640. At this price point, this seven-seater EV will be rivalling options such as the Volvo EX90, Tesla Model X, and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, and hope to be one of the best electric SUVs on the market for European buyers. Its smaller electric cousin, the LYRIQ, already won Germany’s prestigious Luxury Car of the Year award last year, so it’s clear that Cadillac is doing something right to appeal to European EV buyers.
The new model has initially launched in Sweden, Germany, France, and Switzerland – with the first examples arriving to customers in September. Whilst we haven’t seen any of Cadillac’s new EVs come to the United Kingdom yet, we can expect right-hand-drive variants of multiple Cadillac EVs (including the VISTIQ) in the near future, allowing for UK sales.
With Tesla’s market share dropping in many territories, this could be the perfect opportunity to fill that market gap within the EV sector in particular. As we’ve recently seen in Canada, parent company General Motors (Cadillac included) recently overtook Tesla as the number one seller of electric vehicles in the country.
Pere Brugal, President and Managing Director for General Motors Europe, commented:
“Sweden is a leader in electrification and shares our commitment to a more sustainable future, making Stockholm the ideal location for our European debut. The VISTIQ redefines what a three-row SUV can be – offering first-class comfort in every seat, bold Cadillac design, and the agility of a much smaller vehicle. It’s a compelling blend of luxury, performance, and versatility. With the VISTIQ, we’re giving customers more choice in the EV space, because true luxury is about having options that fit your lifestyle.”
