Wuling, which produce the top selling electric mini in China, the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV, have launched their latest electric vehicle (EV), the Wuling Air EV, in Jakarta, Indonesia. This model, which is a joint venture between SAIC, General Motors and Wuling (SGMW), will be available to the global market.
This latest model from Wuling builds upon previous models including the Wuling Hong Guang MINIEV, Wuling Nano EV and Baojun KiWi EV. As a result, it is expected to strengthen SGMW’s leading position in electric vehicle manufacturing and sales in China.
The Wuling Air EV, which features the locally developed Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2022. It will be the first SGMW model that will be offered outside of China and has been selected as the official car partner for the 2022 G20 Summit to be held in Indonesia this November.
As big fans of affordable mini electric vehicles, we hope that this model hits the UK and Europe soon. This is because the competitive prices will help ramp the adoption of electric vehicles at a faster rate and they make sense for sustainable driving in urban areas.
