Volvo Trucks North America and Volvo Financial Services pioneer their truck-as-a-service package in the US
Volvo Trucks North America and Volvo Financial Services are boosting emobility in the US with Volvo on Demand. This trucks-as-a-service model aims to streamline the transition to electric fleets by slashing upfront costs.
Customers can access the advanced Class 8 Volvo VNR Electric trucks through the initiative. These trucks come in two configurations: the six-battery 6×4 tractors and the four-battery 4×2 tractors. These trucks offer a range of up to 275 miles and rapid charging capabilities.
Jared Ruiz, Regional Vice President, Volvo Trucks North America, stated:
“Today we have customers who’ve successfully deployed the VNR Electric and are continuing to seek ways to scale their operations to include more of these trucks.
We have a number of customers who have expressed interest in adding the VNR Electric to their operation but want to understand how it will fit within their specific applications. With Volvo on Demand through VFS, they can gain valuable experience before making large upfront capital investments. With Volvo on Demand customers can get a single truck or a few trucks with portable 50 kWh chargers to gain real-world experience while making plans to scale, including accounting for potential lead times on charging infrastructure installation, with flexible payment terms. We see this program as the next evolution in scaling electromobility solutions by offering unmatched financial flexibility to our customers.”
The strength of Volvo on Demand is its comprehensive customer package—a one-stop shop for emobility. The package includes flexible terms starting at 12 months, to Volvo Trucks’ top-tier Gold Contract, insurance, route planning, and charging consultation. Wrapping all of these services into one dramatically reduces the transition time for fleet operators.
The package is available through Volvo Trucks Certified EV dealerships. These dealerships can be found across 31 states and Canadian provinces.
Charles Carter, Vice President, services and solutions, Volvo Financial Services, commented:
“Volvo on Demand offers peace of mind to customers who are just beginning their electromobility journey, managing the unknowns and uncertainties of how to best run and scale electric trucks in their operations. We see this solution being exceptionally beneficial to many segments including drayage, regional haul, last mile and smaller fleets, who are tasked with delivering more sustainable transportation solutions for their customers.”
Volvo Trucks has rolled charging infrastructure into the deal. Programs like Turnkey Solutions and Vendor Direct Shipping handle the entire installation process. Yet more streamlining for budding sustainable fleets.
Volvo on Demand signals a movement towards fleet electrification across the US. As the EV market takes off, and electric heavy-duty vehicles come into the limelight, comprehensive offers to streamline fleet electrification are sure to find good footing.
