ID.3 GTX: The new electric flagship hatchback

Volkswagen’s ID.3 GTX steps into the limelight as the brand’s new flagship model, following from the tremendous success of the current ID.3. With two versions – the ID.3 GTX with 210 kW (286 PS) and the Performance variant, managing 240 kW (326 PS).

Externally, the ID.3 GTX has a sportier look, with a GTX-specific front bumper adorned with a diamond-style grille. That’s paired with 20-inch Skagen alloy wheels and LED tail lights at the rear. Painted in a choice of five colours, the ID.3 GTX makes a bold statement.

Inside, the cabin is marked by premium sport seats, ergoActive seats, and red accents throughout. The infotainment system takes centre stage with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a driving mode selector, and an innovative integration of ChatGPT for voice assistance.

Performance

The ID.3 GTX packs a punch with the new APP550 high-efficiency drive, delivering 210 kW and 240 kW options. The Performance variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 5.6 seconds. The 79 kWh lithium-ion battery ensures an estimated WLTP range of about 600 km (372 miles).

The running gear and assist systems receive the GTX treatment, with specific tuning for agile running gear and precise steering. Standard features include progressive steering and modified DCC adaptive chassis control for the Performance variant. A suite of assist systems, such as cruise control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and a lane-keeping system, come standard, with optional extras like Travel Assist and Park Assist Plus.

The ID.3 GTX sets the stage for Volkswagen’s electric revolution. It introduces the world’s first ID.3 infotainment system with a voice assistant linked to ChatGPT. It’s dynamic, sporty look combined with its competitive range and power make it a real contender in the EV hatchback segment.

ID.7 GTX Tourer: The all-electric estate

In tandem with the ID.3 GTX, Volkswagen launches the ID.7 GTX Tourer. This EV stands out as the most powerful estate car in Volkswagen’s lineup. Carrying the GTX brand forward, the ID.7 GTX Tourer joins the ranks of the ID.3 GTX and the ID. Buzz GTX. That solidifies GTX as an independent product brand within Volkswagen.

The optional Interior Plus Package includes the Wellness app. This development runs in keeping with the long-distance comfort this car is going for. It emphasises Volkswagen’s expansion of the GTX EV range to include both sporty hatchbacks, and powerful cruisers.

Advanced systems

The ID.7 GTX Tourer’s list of equipment keeps on coming. The extended standard equipment package includes DC charging, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, App Connect Wireless, keyless access, and an anti-theft alarm.
