Stellantis is tackling charging anxiety by extended the e-ROUTES app across Europe

  • Stellantis will extend its e-ROUTES app to all brands in Europe, enhancing EV route planning and charging recommendations.
  • The app uses real-time vehicle data, works with CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and adjusts trips dynamically.
  • Part of Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 plan, the app aims to boost EV adoption through accurate, real-time charging information.

Stellantis is set to extend its e-ROUTES app to all its brands across Europe this summer

The app plans routes, guides drivers to their destinations, and recommends optimal charging stations to ease charging anxiety for EV drivers.

The e-ROUTES app is compatible with CarPlay® and Android Auto™. It uses real-time data from the vehicle, including battery charge, capacity, and air temperature, to provide accurate navigation and charging recommendations. Originally launched with Citroën in October 2023, the app has now expanded to include Peugeot, DS Automobiles, Vauxhall, Opel, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep®, and Lancia.

The app dynamically adjusts trips based on real-time conditions and vehicle state. It informs users of nearby amenities at charging stations, such as restaurants, bars, and hotels. Additionally, it estimates charging costs and updates routes as conditions change.

An advanced routing algorithm underpins e-ROUTES, accounting for charging station locations, quality, and availability. The app connects to the vehicle’s data through a telematic box, providing direct access to crucial information. High-quality maps, real-time traffic updates, and various travel services further enhance the navigation experience.

This initiative is part of Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan to offer innovative mobility solutions. Access to real-time, accurate charging information is key to giving drivers the confidence they need to take an EV on a long journey. Even if seasoned drivers feel that confidence already, it’s the transparency and assistance that may encourage new adopters.
