Polestar 4 production to begin in China next week

  • The Polestar 4, the company’s upcoming SUV-coupe blend, is rumoured to begin mass production at Geely’s China plant next week.
  • The model will then be available for the Chinese market by December, while order books are set to open for other markets next year.
  • China is not the only place the Polestar 4 is set to be built however, owing to the various import tariffs in other countries.

As reported by CarNewsChina, production of the upcoming Polestar 4 is set to start at Geely’s Hangzhou Bay factory in China just next week, with deliveries within the country starting in December. These Chinese-produced Polestar 4s are also set to be exported to Europe by next year. However, with the US imposing a 25% import tax on Chinese-made vehicles, the country will instead receive the model from Renault Korea Motors’ factory in South Korea, which is set to start production of the 4 in 2025. It remains to be seen whether the 4 will also be produced in Europe or the USA. A proportion of Polestar 3 models are already manufactured in the states, while rumours are circulating that the company plans to open a European-based production line around 2027.
