New Fiat 500 electric car prices released for the UK

Full pricing and specifications of the new Fiat 500 electric car range have been announced for the UK. The new range, which is based on the classic 1950s Italian design, will be available in hatchback and convertible versions, three trim styles and with two battery options. Prices for the new electric Fiat 500 will start from £19,995 inclusive of Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG).

The entry-level Action trim model features a 70kW motor driven by a 23.8kWh capacity battery. This delivers a limited top speed of 84mph (135kph) and will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in 9.5 seconds. The range is said to be up to 150 miles depending on where you’re driving. With the average commute under 30 miles per day, customers would only need to charge the New 500 once every four days.

Fiat’s mid-range Passion trim model is available with a 42kWh battery that provides up to 285 miles of range when driven in the city. It features 85kW fast charging that can recharge the battery up to 80 percent in 35 minutes. This 42kWh battery version will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in nine seconds, with a top speed of 93mph.

The range-topping Icon will feature the same battery set-up as the Passion offering the same range and charge times. What’s different here is a new 10.25-inch touchscreen display with integrated GPS and infotainment system.

Each new electric Fiat 500 model offers three driving modes to match the driving situation. In Normal mode, it drives like an automatic combustion engine car with an output of 87kW that’s equivalent to 118-horsepower. This provides 220Nm of instantly available torque and will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in nine seconds.

In ‘Range’ mode, the new electric 500 offers the option of using only one foot. The one-pedal function means acceleration and deceleration can be controlled by the same pedal. This driving style, which is ideal for urban use, means the car can recover a great deal of its energy helping to increase its city driving range.

When the remaining range is low ‘Sherpa’ mode can be employed to optimise the available resources to ensure the destination is reached. It works on several components to ensure either the destination set on the navigation system or the nearest charging station is reached.

The Italian car company will be offering their La Prima first edition model of the new electric Fiat 500 which will cost £26,995 (inclusive of PiCG) for the hatchback and £29,995 (inclusive of PiCG) for the convertible.
