Yesterday we brought you the news that Audi had unveiled its new RS e-Tron GT (Gran Turismo) electric sports car. We now have more pictures of this slick looking performance electric car and thought that you might like to see them because the e-Tron GT is a masterpiece of engineering and a true thing of beauty.
The German carmaker has managed to deliver is a high-performance electric car yet remains practical for day-to-day use with a range of up to 292miles (472km) of range for the e-Tron GT, while the RS version offers 280 miles (450km).
The e-Tron GT features intelligent thermal battery management and an 800-volt system that offers a maximum charging capacity of 270kWh for fast charging.
With fast charging the e-Tron GT can drive 435 miles (700km) with just one stop of less than 23 minutes of recharging.
The Audi is powered by a 93.4kWh lithium-ion battery that drives two motors to deliver 830Nm of torque and 475kW of power.
The e-Tron GT offers 522 horsepower and can drive from 0-62mph (100kph) in 4.1 seconds, while the RS version delivers 637 horsepower and will hit these speeds in just 3.3 seconds.
Audi says the e-Tron GT can recover 62 miles (100km) of range in only five minutes when using up to a high-speed charging network like Volkswagen’s Electrify America.
The all-wheel steering RS Audi e-Tron is certainly a car that will impress not only with its breath-taking sporty and elegant design but the way it handles on the road.
The e-Tron GT is backed up by a powerful drive system making it, in the brand’s RS guise, is the most powerful production car Audi have made.
To aid the performance Audi worked hard to lower the air resistance because this translates into greater range.
The new design language creates a stronger flow and thereby creates refined aerodynamics.
Audi say the design of the e-Tron GT will form the basis for the design of future electric models.
Along with the introduction of the e-Tron GT Audi also plans to launch the new e-Tron S, e-Tron S Sportback and Q4 e-Tron this year.
By 2025, the German carmaker will offer more than 20 models with all-electric drive in the most important markets worldwide and achieve around 40 percent of its sales with electrified variants.
Prices for the Audi e-Tron GT have been released for Germany and will start from £79,900 OTR (€99,800/$99,900) with the RS e-Tron GT version starting from £110,950 OTR (€138,200/$139,900)
