Recently, they unveiled their inaugural charging hub in the Nordics, situated in Varberg, Sweden. This marks another step in establishing a comprehensive electric charging network across Europe for heavy-goods vehicles (HGVs) and buses. This comes shortly after the news of the opening of their truck charging station in Heudebouville, France, which will open later this month.

Milence’s latest charging hub will be located in Varberg, Sweden. A strategic location positioned between Gothenburg and Malmö along the E6 motorway. The hub in Varberg will be open to all trucks regardless of brand.

The development of the charging hub in Varberg will occur in two phases:

Phase One: Installation will include eight charging bays with four high-performance CCS chargers, each capable of delivering up to 400 kW. Facilities will include a signature Milence arch along with driver amenities like lounges, showers, and toilets.

Phase Two: This expansion will introduce more charging bays. Future plans also include to incorporate Megawatt Charging Systems (MSC) for enhanced charging capabilities.

Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence, expressed her excitement about this milestone:

“The new charging hub in Varberg is strategically located in a key logistics area in the south-west of Sweden, between Gothenburg and Malmö. Through our future roadmap, our initiative to create high-performance green corridors across Europe is gaining momentum. We have more plans to expand our network with several key sites this upcoming year, some of which are already under contract and in development, and all of which are located along key strategic areas and open to all trucks.”

It is great to witness companies like Milence prioritising the development of charging infrastructure tailored for HGVs and buses. Milence has many plans to shape the scene of electric truck charging in Europe, including their partnership with ChargePoint and UTA Edenred for a £6bn electric truck charging initiative

The precise opening date for the new Swedish charging hub is currently undisclosed. We’ll update you on any new announcements.
