Performance

The Folgore boasts a 105 kWh battery, delivering 410 kW power and an impressive 820 Nm of torque. The EV takes cues from Formula E cars to enhance its agility and to allow acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in a swift 4.1 seconds.

It offers a fully charged range of up to 311 miles based on WLTP standards. Charging from 20-80% can be achieved in 29 minutes using a compatible charger. Both of these stats put the Maserati just below its most obvious competitor, the Porsche Macan. However, the differences are fairly negligible.

Inside

The cabin features the sustainable ECONYL® material, crafted from regenerated nylon, adding an eco-friendly touch to the interior. The Grecale Folgore hosts a range of advanced features. Gesture controls, wireless smartphone integration, and a customisable digital cockpit bring modernity to the EV.

Air suspension comes as standard, along with an array of safety features. These include adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera system. So, the Grecale Folgore is showcasing driver aids and electric SUV innovations to improve the driving experience.

Pricing

Starting at £109,950 in the UK, the Grecale Folgore comes with a hefty premium compared to its electric SUV counterparts. Its base price is over £40,000 more than the Porsche Macan EV and nearly £15,000 higher than the top-spec Macan Turbo. Maserati’s entry into the electric SUV market may face challenges in affordability. However, the brand’s ethos is embedded in luxury, so the stacked features and high-quality effect may bring in a crowd.

Maserati’s commitment to electrification doesn’t stop with the Grecale Folgore. The brand has already introduced the GranTurismo Folgore grand tourer, with plans for an electric GranCabrio and an electric version of the MC20 supercar in 2025. The next-generation Maserati Quattroporte, anticipated in 2028, further solidifies Maserati’s move toward an electrified future.

The Maserati Grecale Folgore stands as a pivotal milestone in the brand’s electric journey. The performance and design showcase Maserati’s commitment to excellence. Time will tell if the Grecale Folgore can carve its niche in the evolving landscape of electric SUVs.
