LeasePlan, one of the world’s leading Car-as-a-Service companies, will be exhibiting their ARRIVAL all-electric van at the 2021 EV Summit. The event will take place at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School on 1-2 September.
Now in its fourth year, the EV Summit is the world’s most significant gathering of emobility leaders. The event explores how to advance battery-electric mobility for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
This year the EV Summit is placing the master narrative of decarbonisation at the centre of the event. It will feature 10 panels across two days, covering the significant business issues on the rapid transition to emobiity.
Earlier this year it was announced that LeasePlan would be the preferred operational leasing partner for ARRIVAL electric vans. The partnership is based on an initial order of 3,000 vans, with the sales agreement expected to be finalised in the third quarter of 2021.
Now LeasePlan will be showing off their logo’d version of the zero-emissions ARRIVAL truck at the EV Summit. Over the two days, event-goers and passers-by will be able to view the all-electric ARRIVAL truck in the flesh outside the Saïd Business School.
ARRIVAL are a British-American electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer that have their headquarters in London with their research and development facility based in Oxfordshire. Plus, they have a factory in the county too. ARRIVAL’s goal is to accelerate the mass adoption of EVs at scale globally by producing affordable commercial vehicles, with a substantially lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
Tex Gunning, LeasePlan CEO, said: “Demand for online shopping is skyrocketing, but this demand has to be met responsibly, and concerns about pollution from delivery vehicles need to be addressed.
“I’m delighted to be partnering with ARRIVAL, which will see LeasePlan delivering some of the greenest, cleanest and truly innovative eLCVs to our customers. Together we are going to revolutionise the fast-growing eLCV market and make zero emission deliveries part and parcel of the New Normal.”
Along with electric vans, ARRIVAL also produces electric buses and are currently developing an electric car purpose-built for ride-hailing and car-sharing. The company is also collaborating with Charge Cars, who are creating new, hand-built Electric Mustangs as they redefine the classic car industry.
Avinash Rugoobur, ARRIVAL president, said: “LeasePlan is not only the world’s largest Car-as-a-Service company, but they have also shown a long-term commitment to carbon footprint reduction as founding members of the EV100 – really putting sustainability on the map long before it was popular.
“ARRIVAL is thrilled to be partnering with a fellow company leading the charge to accelerate the transition to zero-emissions vehicles, bringing sustainable mobility and cleaner air to cities around the world.”
Ade Thomas, co-founder of the EV Summit, said: “LeasePlan and ARRIVAL are two global leaders in emobility, and I’m delighted to have them both involved in the EV Summit, in the form of the new LeasePlan ARRIVAL electric van.”
Along with the electric ARRIVAL van being on display, Alfonso Martinez, LeasePlan’s UK director, will be speaking at the EV Summit. He will feature on the Sustainable Fleets panel, held in partnership with global consulting firm, EY. The panel will investigate how fleet managers can make the boardroom case for fleet electrification while delivering on sustainability targets.
Alfonso Martinez, LeasePlan managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be attending this year’s EV Summit and to support the event’s goal in accelerating the shift towards decarbonised mobility. EVs are the future of road transport and the electrification of the automotive industry is happening all around us at a rapid pace. It’s vital that we keep this momentum going forward as we approach 2030 and beyond.
“Though there’s still some way to go, electric cars have become vastly more accessible over the past few years as range improves and components become more affordable. However, the electric van market is still a couple of strides behind. That’s why we’re so excited to attend with Arrival, who we’ve recently partnered with. Together, we hope to deliver some of the most environmentally friendly and innovative eLCVs to our customers, all while making zero emission deliveries the ‘new normal’.”
