Kandi America, the US arm of Kandi Technologies Group based in China, has announced its has certification by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for meeting the state’s emissions standards for its small K27 electric car. With incentives, the K27 can be purchased for just $7,999 (£6,065/€6751 at today’s exchange rate)
Kandi’s K27 is a compact electric car that will seat four and measures 346cm long (136 inches) long, 147cm (58 inches) wide and 161cm (64 inches) tall, with a 245cm (97-inch) wheelbase. This front-wheel-drive electric car comes with a 17.69 kWh lithium battery that drives 45 kW motor which offers a top speed of 68mph (101kph).
It has a range of 59 (95km) miles and while this might not seem huge, it’s ideal for short trips, especially around town whether it commuting, doing the shopping or the school run. The Kandi K27 certainly offers zero-emission driving at a bargain price. It will be available in the US in the fourth quarter of this year.
Johnny Tai, CEO of Kandi America, said: “California continues to lead the country in reduction of carbon emissions through the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles – representing nearly 50 percent of sales across the US – efforts of which should be largely applauded.
“This certification comes at a great time for Kandi America as the infrastructure put forth by state elected officials, including the Governor’s recent executive order banning sales of new gasoline- and diesel-powered cars and trucks by 2035, requires new quality, affordable products to enter the market quickly.”
