The ground-breaking Automobili Estrema Fulminea electric hypercar will make its UK debut at this year’s Salon Privé. The event returns to Blenheim Palace from 1-5 September, 2021 and is set to be part of the new Concepts & Prototypes class in the event’s prestigious Concours d’Elégance.
The Fulminea is a fully electric hypercar built by Automobili Estrema, which was founded in 2020 by entrepreneur Gianfranco Pizzuto. Based in Modena at the heart of Italy’s legendary automotive industry, Automobili Estrema is aiming to make the Fulminea ‘the fastest technology lab on wheels’.
The company plans to specialise in the design and production of exclusive hypercars built in limited numbers. The Fulminea, which is set to go on sale in the second half of 2023, will be the first car in the world to use an innovative ‘hybrid’ battery pack that combines Li-ion cells with solid-state electrolyte and ultracapacitors.
The set-up provides 100kWh of energy to power the four electric motors with a total output equivalent to 2040hp. This is enough to propel the Fulminea from 0-200mph (0-320kph) in less than 10 seconds.
Automobili Estrema says the Fulminea has a predicted range of 323 miles (520km). This is thanks to a battery weight of only 300kg, which makes the total weight of this cutting-edge vehicle just 1500kg.
As well as incorporating sophisticated technology, the Fulminea also stands out for its aerodynamic and compact shape. Composite materials are used in the design which helps to keep the weight down. These were designed using optimised computational fluid dynamic (CFD) testing and features active aerodynamic elements such as the front air intake and retractable rear wing.
The Automobili Estrema Fulminea joins several new modern zero-emission hypercars that are now available or in pre-production. These include the Lotus Evjia, Rimac C_Two and Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne. This proves that high-end motoring and cutting edge design doesn’t need to destroy the planet in the process.
Gianfranco Pizzuto, Automobili Estrema founder and CEO, said: “The Fulminea marks the beginning of a new generation of electric cars. It has all the characteristics of a racing car but features a fully electric powertrain and innovative solutions.
“Our philosophy is based on four main concepts; romance, elegance, purity and balance, and we can think of nowhere better than Salon Privé at which to give the Fulminea its UK debut.”
