Unveiling the All-New Dacia Spring, a much-needed budget-friendly electric car
Dacia has unveiled its latest, budget-friendly EV, the All-New Spring, positioning itself as Europe’s most affordable all-electric car. This model is available in right-hand drive, showcasing a fresh exterior and interior design.
A prized feature is its customisable digital dashboard, flaunting a 7-inch instrument display and a central 10-inch multimedia screen. It features a lightweight build and a 65 hp electric motor that only consumes 14.6 kWh per 62 miles.
The new offering features a compact 26.8 kWh battery calibrated for A-segment customer needs. It’s a uniquely light car, weighing in at 984 kg in the top-level Extreme trim. That maintains its status as the only sub-one-tonne electric car in Europe. Thanks to this, it achieves a WLTP range of over 137 miles.
The model uses a 7 kW AC charger for home charging. That makes it capable of reaching a full charge from 20% in less than 11 hours. Additionally, a 30 kW DC charger enables fast charging from 20% to 80% in just 45 minutes. The innovative inclusion of a bi-directional V2L charger allows the All-New Spring to serve as an energy source, enhancing its practicality and versatility.
Beyond performance…
Set for a full UK pricing and specifications reveal on March 12, 2024, we’re expecting this to come in at a very reasonable price. As are the 7,000 interested parties who have already signed up.
Initially launched in 2021, the Spring clinched the third-highest sales among electric cars to retail customers in both 2022 and 2023, amassing over 140,000 registrations globally.
The All-New Spring boasts a refreshed design which aligns with Dacia’s mission to redefine essential elements in the automotive industry. The interior has undergone a significant transformation, featuring a customisable digital dashboard and a fresh, practical, and digital design.
With an expanded range offering Essential, Expression, and Extreme trims, the All-New Dacia Spring continues to champion affordability, practicality, and efficiency. Equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for safety.
The All-New Dacia Spring is set to make a splash. A generously low price tag will set this EV apart from its competitors and help to fill the affordable gap in the market. We can expect more automakers to follow suit with lightweight, lower-range, lower-cost EVs to satisfy customer demands. This could become a new battleground for OEMs globally.
