Volkswagen has rolled out a series of updates for the ID.3 and ID.4 models as the brand switches to the model year 2022 (MY22) For the first time since the launch, the two award-winning EVs are now offered with configurable trim levels, and a range of option packs are now available across all derivatives.
The ID.3 also receives a major price revision that sees it represent even better value for money. This is always good news and will hopefully encourage more people to make the switch to zero-emissions driving.
Under the new pricing, two more variants become eligible for the government’s Plug-in Vehicle Grant (PIVG). This means that six ID.3 models now qualify for the grant. Plus, there is one ID.4 electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Life Pure model, that also qualifies for the grant.
The Life Pure Performance base model ID.3 features a 45kWh battery that delivers up to 216 miles (348km) of range. It has a top speed of 99mph (159kph) and can accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in 8.9 seconds. Prices will start from just £27,120 (including PIVG).
At the top of the ID.3 range, prices have been reduced. Prices for the highly-equipped Max and range-topping Tour have dropped by £3,800. The Tour, with its 77kWh battery and 340-mile (547km) range is priced from £38,800. The equipment-packed Max starts at £37,730.
Andrew Savvas, director of Volkswagen UK, said: “The battery electric vehicle segment is rapidly evolving and our ID. family of net-carbon-neutral electric vehicles is moving with it. In particular, the ID.3 range is peerless in the breadth of its offering, with several models now available for under £30,000 and different battery options providing a range between 200 and over 300 miles.
“The ID.3 is our ‘Electric People’s Car’ and continues to receive acclaim and awards from the motoring press. It’s one of the UK’s best-selling BEVs (battery electric vehicles) in the segment. The aim of the price revision is to maintain the car’s long-term competitiveness in the fast-moving sector.
“We strive to continue to make e-mobility straightforward and affordable for everyone. These changes to the ID.3 and ID.4 order process, and our pricing update for the ID.3, together demonstrate our commitment to that promise.”
