Hyundai launch dedicated electric car brand IONIQ

South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Company have announced the launch of IONIQ, which is their dedicated brand of battery powered electric cars. Over the next four years the company will launch three models. The aim is to provide connected lifestyle solutions in-line with their smart mobility vision.

The design of the new IONIQ range will have the shared premise of timeless value. The new electric cars have been inspired by previous models but will form a bridge to the future.

The IONIQ 5, which launches in 2021, will be a midsize electric sports utility vehicle (SUV). This will be based on the EV-45 concept car that Hyundai unveiled in 2019 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show as a homage to its first concept car. It will combine inspiration from the past with integrated cutting-edge design.

This will be followed by the IONIQ 6 sedan in 2022, which will be based on the company’s sleek aerodynamic concept EV Prophecy launched in March. The final launch will be the IONIQ 7 in 2024 which will be a large SUV. This will feature an iconic exterior that embodies perfect proportions with aerodynamic efficiency.
