Suzuki has launched its eVX concept electric vehicle (EV) at a world premiere at the Maruti Suzuki Pavilion at Auto Expo 2023 held in the suburbs of Delhi, India. The eVX is an electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) concept derived from Suzuki’s first global strategic EV.
The eVX is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) model that combines Suzuki’s strong 4×4 DNA with the advanced features found in the latest electric cars. The exterior is designed to be instantly recognisable as a Suzuki SUV. It’s a chunky small and angular-looking SUV with a low curved roof.
In addition, it aims to carry forward the brand’s 4×4 legacy into the new electric era to deliver a true Suzuki SUV driving experience. The small electric SUV will feature a 60kWh battery that will deliver a range of up to 342 miles (550km) under the Indian MIDC test cycle. Other details are vague at the moment.
President Suzuki said, “I am delighted to unveil the eVX, our first global strategic EV. At the Suzuki Group, addressing global warming is a priority. We are promoting a range of global measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Suzuki will continue providing valuable products to our customers around the world by optimising them for the way different people live and drive.”
Back in August 2022, Suzuki held a cornerstone laying ceremony in India for a plant for electric vehicle batteries and a new vehicle plant. The battery plant will be established by Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited, a subsidiary of SUZUKI for automobile production in India, and the new automobile plant in Kharkhoda will be established by SUZUKI’s subsidiary in India, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (Maruti Suzuki).
The plant is expected to develop a new mid-size electric crossover/SUV that will be will be derived from Toyota’s 40PL global platform. It will be sold as part of the Maruti brand in India and as a Toyota model for international markets.
The eVX is scheduled to be introduced to the market by 2025.
