Polestar UK appoints Matt Hawkins as head of sales in the UK for the electric car company

Polestar UK has appointed Matt Hawkins as head of sales in the UK as it continues to grow the sales performance of the popular Polestar 2 performance fastback electric car. This is good news that another electric vehicle (EV) company is doing so well and increasing staff numbers and creating more employment.

Hawkins joins the already established Polestar UK management team including UK CEO Jonathan Goodman, Louise Hardman head of marketing and events, Graeme Lambert head of PR and communications and Bruce Greenwood head of operations.

Working closely with the global Polestar sales team in Gothenburg, the UK Head of Sales position is responsible for the sales function across fleet, retail and pre-owned channels.

Polestar recently expanded its model range and now offer three variants with two powertrains of the Polestar 2. It is also available with two battery packs and curated optional equipment packs. The fully electric Polestar 2 is more accessible than ever before with on the road prices starting from £39,900.

Jonathan Goodman, Polestar UK CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have someone of Matt’s calibre on board as we continue to launch the Polestar brand in the UK. With a strong background in both automotive and the renewable energy sectors, he is a perfect fit for a sustainable and passionate brand like Polestar and it’s clear he will help us achieve our goals for 2021.”

Matt Hawkins, Polestar head of sales in the UK, said: “I truly believe that electrification of mobility works hand-in-hand with renewable energy generation to provide a more sustainable future, and no brand encapsulates that better than Polestar. It’s important to me that customers understand Polestar is a brand synonymous with a premium ownership and user experience and I’m delighted to play such an important part in delivering the brand’s vision to UK consumers.”

Despite the challenges of the pandemic over the last 12 months, Polestar has invested in other departments in its UK operations. A number of key hires have been made across the marketing, customer service and sales departments. Since the start of 2020, the UK team has grown by more than 100 percent as it continues to accelerate its growth in the local EV sector.
