Envirorally launched for the future of electric vehicle (EV) motorsport

Envirorally, which specialise in motorsport events for carbon-free electric vehicles (EVs), have just launched. The non-profit foundation is the brainchild of Clara Stone and Robert Clarke and designed to offer all the thrills of regular rally driving but with zero emissions.

Having competed in rally events together for some time, Stone and Clarke’s mutual concern for the future of both the environment and motorsport is the driving force behind their new venture.

Clara Stone, rally navigator, said: “Rally adventures are our passion. But with a growing climate crisis, we ran out of excuses for racing fuel-burning combustion engines. So, we founded Envirorally, dedicated to rally driving with a conscience.

“Our aim is to create a community of like-minded car enthusiasts with the desire to preserve the thrill and adventure of rally driving yet protect the future of our planet.”

Working with leading rally course experts, Envirorally is creating routes in both the UK and overseas that will put electric cars to the test, working within charging and range capabilities.

The UK events will be centred around the growing network of GRIDSERVE electric forecourts. The first UK electric rally event is currently being planned for April 2022 with the route recce already completed.

The overseas events will focus more on challenging terrain, endurance and exhilarating adventure. Plus, the social aspect for motoring enthusiasts who want to divert from the traditional tourist routes. The inaugural overseas adventure is being devised for October 2022.

Envirorally’s events are designed exclusively for zero carbon vehicles. These include standard/production, modified, converted and bespoke electric cars. The Envirorally Foundation will offer membership to fellow motorsport and environmental enthusiasts.

Funds from fees and events will be channelled back into the research and development of e-motorsport technology, giving back to the environment and advancing electric motorsports.

Robert Clarke, rally driver, said: “By joining us, rally goers will not only experience wild, adrenaline-pumped rally adventures, but they’ll be helping to forge the future of sustainable motoring and exhilarating motorsports for many years to come.”

Envirorally will also support organisations such as The National Forest, planting and dedicating trees for every member, and Project Seagrass. Plus, they will be furthering their sustainability commitment by becoming Planet Mark certified through measuring and reducing each event’s carbon footprint.
