- The CUPRA Raval electric hatchback has been previewed, ahead of its official reveal and 2026 market launch.
- Based on Volkswagen’s brand new MEB+ EV platform, the Raval is set to be the cheapest electric car offered by CUPRA yet, existing in the increasingly competitive electric supermini segment alongside models like the Renault 5 and future Volkswagen ID. Polo.
- The Raval will be the first of four models to be launched within the Volkswagen Group’s ‘Electric Urban Car Family’, which is looking to bring a quartet of affordable EVs to market.
CUPRA Raval arrives next year as the most affordable CUPRA EV yet
Ahead of its official 2026 launch, a late-prototype version of the Raval has now been in the hands of journalists. Continuing CUPRA’s performance-led approach, the Raval is set to be an EV that combines practicality and fun driving dynamics into an affordable overall package.
This new EV is the first of several affordable electric models set to be launched from the Volkswagen Group in the near future. Other models on the horizon, which will share the same platform and many of the same parts to keep costs down, include the Volkswagen ID. Polo, ID. Polo GTI, and Skoda Epiq.
The CUPRA Raval will be offered in a number of specifications, with the cheapest model confirmed to start at under €26,000 (equivalent to around £23,000), making it price competitive with vehicles such as the Renault 5. The top-specification Raval VZ will be the sportiest model offered, which will include a more powerful 222 horsepower electric motor, sports suspensions, and body-hugging bucket seats. This model will compete with a growing list of electric hot hatchbacks, which currently includes the Alpine A290, Peugeot e-208 GTI, and MINI JCW Electric.
Markus Haupt, CEO of CUPRA, commented:
“The CUPRA Raval embodies everything that CUPRA stands for, from driver-first emotion to bold design and outstanding performance. It’s a car that is set to shape the next era of electric mobility, making EVs accessible to a new generation.
Designed, developed and soon to be produced in Martorell, the CUPRA Raval represents our commitment to electrification. As the first model to launch from the Electric Urban Car Family, a project we’re proud to lead for the Volkswagen Group, it also confirms our company’s position as an automotive powerhouse.”
