Daimler MENA debuts groundbreaking 40-ton electric truck in the UAE, fusing sustainability with advanced safety innovations
In the spirit of COP 28, Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA handed over the UAE’s first 40-ton electric truck to DHL – the Mercedes-Benz eActros 300. The gathering took place at the Mercedes-Benz Training Centre in Dubai. Executives from RoadSafetyUAE, DHL Global Forwarding, DCV MENA, and EMC CV came together for the event.
The handover marks a significant stride towards sustainable transportation in the Middle East. We’ve seen significant emobility initiatives taking off in the region of late. What’s more, it highlights Daimler Truck’s dedication to shaping a greener path for the commercial vehicle industry. The Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 Tractor Head is a symbol of the industry’s pivot towards emobility. Packed with cutting-edge features, this state-of-the-art electric vehicle is rewriting the rules on efficiency, safety, and environmental awareness.
The eActros 300 comes fully loaded with top-notch safety features. They include an external Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System, fifth-gen Active Brake Assist, Stability Control Assist (ESP), and Lane Keeping Assist. Inside, it features an interactive Multimedia Cockpit and a second-gen MirrorCam system for enhanced visibility. Prioritizing safety for everyone on the road is non-negotiable.
Thomas Edelmann, Founder and Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE, said:
“This state-of-the-art electric truck is equipped with advanced safety features like Stability Control Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Active Brake Assist 5, ensuring not only a greener planet but also a safer ride for drivers, pedestrians, and other road users alike. This vehicle ticks all the boxes in terms of state-of-the art sustainability and road safety. It is amazing to witness this launch in the spirit of COP28, which is a strong proof point of the mutual objective of achieving net zero carbon emissions targets.”
In the coming decade, the shift to e-mobility is poised to deliver impressive CO2 reductions. The eActros 300 will save about 240 tons of CO2 over ten years compared to a conventional diesel Actros. When extended to the estimated 250,000 trucks navigating UAE roads, the potential savings skyrocket to an impressive 60 million tons of CO2 over the next decade. This substantial reduction underscores a meaningful contribution to addressing the pressing climate change issues currently under discussion at COP 28 just down the road. This contribution was solidified by Tevva’s call for action earlier today. Read more about the industry-wide call for greater decarbonisation efforts here.
