bp pulse, one of the leading ultra-fast and rapid public electric vehicle (EV) charging networks in the UK, has opened its latest EV charge points on the Silk Road in Macclesfield.
The new electric hub features four 300kW chargers, equating to eight 150kW charge points, each capable of adding up to 100 miles (160km) in around 15 minutes. This upgrades the region’s public electric charging network, supporting the implementation of Cheshire East Council’s EV charging strategy.
Eight electric vehicles can charge simultaneously at the 150kW charge points, whilst drivers enjoy the nearby convenience offers. The chargers are accessible from the A523, known as The Silk Road, a busy route of vital importance to motorists and businesses around Cheshire.
With the network expansion in Macclesfield, bp pulse is helping to deliver the reliability, convenience and confidence local motorists and fleet operators need to go electric.
Akira Kirton, vice president of bp pulse UK, said: “The opening of the new charging hub in Macclesfield reflects bp pulse’s commitment to creating the infrastructure and technology that gives people the confidence to make the transition to electric vehicles.
“We believe electric vehicle charging in the right place, at the right time, at the right speed is what will deliver the EV charging network the UK needs.”
bp is backing Britain with plans to invest up to £18 billion in the UK energy system by the end of 2030. This includes up to £1 billion for EV charging infrastructure.
