BMW announces UK pricing and specifications for the new BMW iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50 electric cars

BMW has announced UK pricing and specifications for the BMW iX ahead of the launch of the new all-electric model in November. The new zero-emissions sports activity vehicle (SAV) will start from £69,905 and will be the first model based on BMW’s new modular, scalable toolkit on which the future of the BMW Group will be built.

When the BMW iX launches later this year there will be iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50 models and both will be all-wheel-drive vehicles. All models will feature BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive technology that is centred around a drive unit that brings together the electric motor, power electronics and transmission within a single housing.

This highly integrated electric drive system  has a beneficial effect on both power density and efficiency. At the same time makes the most use of the installation space in the area between the front and rear axle.

The iX xDrive40 Sport and X xDrive40 M Sport will both use a 71kWh battery that delivers 326 horsepower for a top speed of 124mph (200kph). Both variants will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in 6.1 seconds and have a range of up to 257 miles (414km). Prices will start from £69,905 and £72,905 respectively.

The more powerful and bigger battery iX xDrive50 Sport and iX xDrive50 M Sport models use a larger 105.2kWh battery. This delivers 523 horsepower with a top speed of 124mph (200kph). Both models will offer an impressive range of up to 380 miles (612km) and can hit 0-62mph (0-100kph) in just 4.6 seconds. Price for these model start from £91,905 and £94,905 respectively.

The impressive battery range is complemented with flexible charging to make life as convenient as possible. DC power can be taken on board at a rate of up to 195kW (BMW iX xDrive50) or 150kW (BMW iX xDrive40). This allows the battery charge to be increased up to 80 percent in around 35 minutes in the BMW iX xDrive50 or 31 minutes in the BMW iX xDrive40.

BMW will also offer iX customers subscription-free access to bp pulse and ‘ONITY Plus charging packages for the first 12 months of ownership.
