- Following the significant rise in EV sales seen since the turn of the 2020s, the market for used electric cars has never been healthier.
- With many used examples now becoming cheaper than ICE cars of the same age, an even more affordable route into EV ownership has opened for first-time EV drivers.
- These are the best used electric cars to buy in 2025.
Used electric cars have never been a smarter choice
In many cases, used electric cars represent a significant saving over purchasing an equivalent model from new, and many of the used EVs are just a few years old – barely ran in, in EV terms. Combine that with recent data from battery health certification firm Generational, which shows that long-term battery health has continued to improve on newer models, and buyer confidence on used models has increased further.
For the purposes of this article, prices are listed in British pound sterling. However, similarly impressive reductions can be seen on these EVs in other territories.
Renault Zoe – Sub £5,000

One of Renault’s first forays into electrification, the Zoe hatchback is the perfect electric urban runabout, with a range of around 130 miles on a full charge. Numerous examples are available under the £5,000 barrier, and if you search carefully, you’ll be able to find one with the battery ‘fully owned’. Many Zoes of this era came under a battery leasing plan, which come with an additional cost for used buyers.
Vauxhall Corsa Electric – Sub £10,000

Vauxhall’s fully-electric Corsa hatchback is already one of the best cheap electric cars you can buy new, which has translated to similarly attractive prices on the used market. On UK car marketplace Auto Trader, over 70 examples are available right now for less than £10,000, with many of these only covering a low number of miles so far. Combine the Corsa Electric’s efficiency with a home charger, and you’ve got a very accessible route into EV ownership.
Tesla Model 3 – Sub £15,000

As we touched upon in our own Tesla Model 3 review, the Model 3 is a supremely capable EV in any guise. Controversies between Elon Musk and politics have partly helped push down the used values of this EV even further, and if you can look past that, it makes for one of the best value used EVs on the market. Even in standard range form, the Model 3 can still crack over 250 miles on a full charge, and it comes with all the benefits of Tesla’s plug-and-go, ultra-rapid, Supercharger network.
Skoda Enyaq – Sub £20,000

The fully-electric Skoda Enyaq is one of the best EVs for families, combining high levels of safety, space, and technology, along with an impressive battery range. Prices on examples of these that are just a few years old have now dropped below the £20,000 mark, making for yet another enticing used EV buy. Examples with the larger 82kWh battery pack can also be found below this price point, allowing for an impressive battery range of 332 miles.
Mercedes-Benz EQC – Sub £30,000

The EQC was Mercedes’ first all-electric SUV, and brought a much demanded slice of luxury to the EV sector. List prices for the EQC originally started at over £65,000, but just a few years later, you can now find countless examples of this electric luxury car for under £30,000. Battery range stands at around 250 miles, and the list of standard equipment is impressive, carrying much of the technology you’ll find in even the newest EVs.
Porsche Taycan – Sub £40,000

Whilst at this price point, you can buy some of the best EVs on the market from new, used examples of the Porsche Taycan still represent remarkable value for money when compared to their original price. For under £40,000, with many of these examples getting closer to £35,000, you’re getting a package that combines performance comparable to some of the best electric sports cars on the market into a practical four-door saloon with impressive range and recharge speeds.
