World EV Day is the largest mobility campaign globally. It’s an annual celebration on September 9th that highlights the importance of electric vehicles (EVs) in shaping the future of transportation.

This campaign, in partnership with Auto Trader, not only promotes sustainable mobility but also encourages global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.

Embracing Emobility

World EV Day raises awareness about the benefits of EVs. By transitioning to EVs, we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and dependence on non-renewable energy sources. EVs are crucial as we work towards national decarbonisation goals worldwide.

Accelerating Innovation and Collaboration

This global celebration brings together automotive manufacturers, government bodies, energy providers, and environmental organizations. It fosters collaboration and innovation in the EV sector, driving advancements in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and sustainable energy solutions. World EV Day supports the growth of the EV industry, making electric mobility accessible and attractive to individuals and businesses.

Inspiring Change and Driving Adoption

World EV Day initiated the EV Meet-Ups initiative, encouraging EV owners to share their experiences with those considering adopting an EV. Through meetups, informative campaigns, test drives, and community events, this campaign inspires individuals to make the switch to EVs.

Last Year’s Campaign

World EV Day 2022 reached over 900 million people on social media and garnered over 1,900 editorial mentions across 113 countries. Major partners like Auto Trader, Renault Trucks, Leaseplan, DPD, Shell Recharge, and Ford joined to spread the word. Partnership opportunities are available for this year’s event.

World EV Day is the biggest global movement in the mobility space. Last year, we trended on Twitter with over 330 million impressions. Working with a global network of partners, we launched World EV Day in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. The campaign aimed to propel emobility at a time when the only communications tool we had was social media. 

In its third year, we expect to see a global roll-out of live activations. From our side, we are seeding the EV Meet-Ups activation to encourage existing EV drivers to arrange meet-ups with prospective EV drivers. This could be as big as major fleets and leasing firms arranging meet-up partnerships with EV hubs and dealerships, or as small as individual drivers sharing insights with friends, neighbours and family.
